Because the link arms are shorter, the angle changes rapidly when you lift the implement. An adjustable shaft needs to handle these angular changes without the U-joints binding (chattering).

Here is the trick that separates the pros from the amateurs: The shaft is only half the battle. When we talk about shafts for compact tractors, we are usually talking about Series 1, Series 2, or sometimes Series 4 (for the larger 40HP+ compacts). The principle is simple: use high-grade steel that allows for thin walls (to save weight) without sacrificing torsional strength. We use Cold Drawn tubing because it slides smoother than hot-rolled steel. This is crucial when the shaft needs to telescope under load.

The yoke material is 20CrMnTi forged steel. Even though compact tractors have lower horsepower, the torque spikes can be high because the engines have small flywheels and react quickly.

*Note: Lengths listed are "compressed." All shafts can and should be cut down to fit.

In the Dutch market, we often see customers comparing our shafts to OEM parts from Kubota or John Deere. Those OEM shafts are fantastic, but they often cost 3x or 4x the price. On the other hand, there are the ultra-cheap imports that rattle right out of the box. • Garden Tillers (Frezen): The most common application. Tillers sit very close to the tractor. An adjustable shaft is mandatory here to prevent binding when lifting.

I can’t let you go without telling you how to cut this thing properly. 90% of shaft failures I see are because they weren't cut correctly.

1. Đo tại vị trí: Hook the implement up. Do NOT connect the PTO. Raise or lower the 3-point hitch until the tractor PTO stub and implement shaft are at their closest point. This is your zero.
2. The 25mm Rule: The compressed shaft must be at least 25-30mm shorter than that "closest point" measurement. You need that buffer room.
3. Cut Equal Amounts: Pull the shaft apart. If you need to remove 100mm total, cut 100mm off the inner steel tube, 100mm off the outer steel tube, 100mm off the inner plastic guard, and 100mm off the outer plastic guard. Four cuts total.
4. Loại bỏ bavia khỏi mọi thứ: Use a file. If you leave a burr on the steel, it will gouge the other tube. If you leave a burr on the plastic, it won't slide.
5. Grease It: Slather grease on the inner tube before reassembling. Friction is the enemy.

The Dutch compact tractor market is vibrant. We see a lot of Kubota (B and L series), Iseki (TX, TU series), Solis, and the classic New Holland Boomers.

The standard for all these machines is the 1-3/8" 6-Spline (Z6) running at 540 RPM. Our shafts come pre-fitted with this standard. However, some very old Iseki or Kubota grey-market imports might have a 1" spline or a non-standard rotation. We have adapters and specific yokes for those oddballs too.
