The Dutch offshore wind sector is pushing the boundaries of physics. 01. Zero-Backlash Spline Interface

Standard DIN or SAE splines allow for minute rotational play, which translates to meters of swing at the boom tip. We utilize a proprietary interference-fit spline geometry with a calibrated polyamide coating (Rilsan). This ensures zero backlash at the connection point between the shaft and the slewing drive input, allowing the crane operator to perform “inching” movements with predictable, instant response, critical for safety in high wind speeds.

02. DNV-GL Certified Safety Factor > 5.0

Offshore lifting appliances are subject to the rigorous DNV-ST-0378 standard. While industrial shafts operate at a Service Factor of 1.5 to 2.0, our WTIV-spec shafts are engineered with a minimum Safety Factor of 5.0 against yield strength. This accounts for the “Shock Load Factor” incurred when a load is suddenly arrested or when a wave impacts the suspended load during splash-zone operations.

03. C5-M Marine Corrosion Defense

Salt spray is relentless. Our shafts feature a triple-layer protection system: a zinc-nickel base, an epoxy intermediate primer, and a high-solid polyurethane topcoat, certified to ISO 12944 C5-M (Marine High). Additionally, the cross-bearing cups are sealed with a specialized “Cassette Seal” system designed to exclude saltwater and abrasive salt crystals, preventing premature brinelling of the trunnions.
