1. Hydraulic Pump Drives (Step-Up Gearboxes)
Many camera-guided hoes are self-contained, meaning they have their own onboard hydraulic system driven by the PTO. This requires a Speed Multiplier Gearbox to step up the 540 RPM PTO speed to the 1500+ RPM required by the hydraulic pump.

It depends on the geometry. Front linkages often have steep angles when lifted. If you intend to keep the PTO running while lifting the machine at the headland (e.g., to keep oil pressure up), then YES, a CV shaft is highly recommended to prevent vibration and damage to the tractor’s front PTO stub.
Connect the hoe to the tractor. Measure the distance from the locking groove on the tractor PTO stub to the groove on the implement input shaft while the machine is level. Subtract 75mm-100mm from this measurement to find the “Compressed Length.” This gap ensures the shaft doesn’t bottom out when the linkage moves.
