If you intend to keep the PTO running while lifting the machine at the headland (e.g., to keep oil pressure up), then YES, a CV shaft is highly recommended to prevent vibration and damage to the tractor’s front PTO stub.
Connect the hoe to the tractor. Measure the distance from the locking groove on the tractor PTO stub to the groove on the implement input shaft while the machine is level. Subtract 75mm-100mm from this measurement to find the “Compressed Length.” This gap ensures the shaft doesn’t bottom out when the linkage moves.
