Flawless Bed Forming & Mulch Laying
Engineered PTO Solutions for the Dutch “White Gold” Season and Beyond
We’ve worked with growers from Venlo to Westland for nearly two decades, and the complaint is always the same: “The machine stutters.” When your PTO shaft introduces vibration into a bed former or mulch layer, the soil compaction becomes uneven, and worse, that expensive biodegradable film tears. Most suppliers try to sell you a heavy-duty shaft meant for a rotary tiller. That’s overkill, and often, it’s too heavy for the delicate input bearings of a precision layer.
At EVER-POWER, we take a different approach. We engineer Series 4 and Series 6 PTO shafts specifically balanced for the steady, moderate-torque application of vegetable equipment. We know that in the Netherlands, you might be dealing with abrasive sandy soil (zandgrond) one day and heavier loam the next. Your driveline needs to be adaptable, not just strong.
“Last season, I was visiting a strawberry grower near Breda. He was running a beautiful 3-row bed former, but the PTO shaft he was using—a cheap aftermarket replacement—had a slight wobble in the telescoping profile. He didn’t think much of it until I pointed out the rhythmic rippling in the plastic every 2 meters. That ripple is where the wind gets in. We swapped it for our EP-Precision-4 Shaft with a triangular profile and tighter tolerance. The difference? The plastic lay flat as a mirror. Sometimes, it’s not the machine’s fault; it’s the connection.”
Technical Specifications: Tuned for Horticulture
We don’t just guess these numbers. These are the specific parameters we manufacture for the European vegetable machinery market. Note the focus on “Telescoping Smoothness” rather than just brute break-strength.

Safety & Compliance: The Dutch Standard
We know the Arbeidsinspectie (Labor Inspectorate) in the Netherlands is strict, and rightly so. A rotating shaft near workers who are manually adjusting film rolls is a high-risk zone. Our shafts are not just “functional”; they are compliant.
- Full Guarding: Our yellow HDPE shields cover the universal joints completely, even at maximum working angles.
- Chuỗi chống xoay: We use reinforced anchor chains to ensure the guard stops immediately if touched, complying with EN 12965.
- Corrosion Resistance: Mulch layers often work with chemical fumigants or fertilizers. Our guards and yokes are treated to resist the corrosive “sea air” found in coastal farming zones like Zeeland.
Universal Compatibility for Dutch Fleets
Whether you are running a brand new Grimme, a trusty Struik bed former, or a Baselier hook tine cultivator, our shafts are engineered to fit. You don’t need to wait weeks for an OEM part from the dealer when you have a field to cover before the rain starts.
Our PTO shafts serve as direct functional replacements for:
- Walterscheid: W-Series (W2300, W2400)
- Công ty Comer Industries: T-Series (T40, T60)
- Bondioli & Pavesi: Global Series 4/5
Case Study: The “Brabantse Wal” Asparagus Challenge
Vấn đề: A grower in Bergen op Zoom was struggling with his 3-bed asparagus ridger. At the headlands (kopakkers), he had to disengage the PTO completely to turn, because his standard shaft would chatter violently if turned beyond 30 degrees. This stop-start process was adding 2 hours to his daily workload.
Giải pháp EVER-POWER: We assessed his tractor-to-implement geometry. The distance was short, creating steep angles during turns. We recommended upgrading to a Trục góc rộng (CV) dòng 6. The Constant Velocity joint allows for smooth power transmission at angles up to 80 degrees.
Kết quả: The grower can now lift the implement and turn into the next row while keeping the PTO running at low RPMs. The vibration is gone, the bearings on his gearbox are cooler, and he finishes his day earlier. Efficiency isn’t just about speed; it’s about continuity.
The Heart of the Machine: Agricultural Gearboxes for Bed Formers
We’ve talked a lot about the PTO shaft—the arm that delivers the power. But what about the brain that converts that power into rotation? I’m talking about the Hộp số nông nghiệp. In the world of plastic mulch layers and bed formers, the gearbox is often the unsung hero, and ironically, the component that causes the most headaches if chosen incorrectly.
At EVER-POWER, we don’t view the PTO shaft and the Gearbox as separate entities. They are a married couple. If one is unhappy, the other suffers. That is why we manufacture a dedicated line of Gearboxes specifically tuned for soil preparation and vegetable machinery, designed to pair perfectly with our Series 4 and 6 shafts.

Why Standard Gearboxes Struggle with “The Slow Grind”
Unlike a mower that spins fast and free, a bed former gearbox operates in a high-torque, low-speed environment. It has to take the 540 RPM from the tractor and reduce it significantly to drive the rotor shafts that pulverize the soil clods before the plastic is laid. This generates immense internal pressure on the gears.
We see two common failures in Dutch sandy soils:
- Overheating: The constant friction of soil engagement heats the oil. If the housing isn’t designed to shed heat, the seals bake and leak.
- Seal Failure: Fine abrasive sand (zand) works its way past cheap rubber seals, turning the oil into grinding paste.
The EVER-POWER Gearbox Advantage
Our gearboxes for ridgers and layers are built with these challenges in mind. We use High-Grade Cast Iron (HT250) housings. Why cast iron and not aluminum? Because cast iron is rigid. Under heavy load, aluminum can flex microscopically, causing the gears to misalign and strip. Cast iron holds the geometry true.
Inside, we use Bánh răng côn xoắn ốc (Gleason standard). Unlike straight bevel gears that “clack” together, spiral gears engage gradually. This results in 30% more torque capacity and, crucially for the operator sitting just meters away, a much quieter operation. Silence is the sound of quality.
Technical Synergy
When you source both the PTO Shaft and the Gearbox from us, you eliminate “Tolerance Stacking.” The spline on our shaft yoke is machined to the exact same tolerance standard as the input shaft of our gearbox. This means a tight, vibration-free fit from day one. No wobbling, no fretting corrosion, just solid power transfer.
We offer a range of ratios suitable for rotavators and bed formers (1:1.46, 1:1.92, etc.), and configurations including T-boxes for folding machines and L-boxes for side drives. Don’t let a mismatched drivetrain compromise your harvest.
Available Configurations:
- Right Angle Gearboxes (L-Drive)
- T-Boxes (Splitter for multi-row machines)
- Reduction Gearboxes (For slow-speed roller drives)
