“The facility manager noticed rust flakes on the floor near the blower intake. In a clean room environment, this is unacceptable. The existing PTO shaft connecting the 30kW motor to the blower was a standard agricultural unit. The yellow paint had peeled, and the condensation had rusted the yokes.

Even worse, the grease in the U-joints had emulsified with the moisture, losing its lubricating properties. The vibration from the worn joints was threatening to damage the high-speed blower bearings.

If it squeaks, it’s likely dry or corroded. You can grease it, but use Food Grade Grease only. Standard grease is toxic to fish. If the squeak persists, the needle bearings are likely rusted, and the cross kit needs replacement.
