Why Gearbox Noise Matters in Optical Sorting
Gear backlash (the play between teeth) creates high-frequency vibration. If your gearbox is “chattering,” that noise travels up the conveyor belt frame. In tea sorting, this can cause the tea leaves to bounce on the belt, disrupting the laminar flow needed for the cameras to spot stalks or foreign material.

If you have a misalignment of more than 5 degrees, a standard shaft creates velocity fluctuations (speeding up and slowing down twice per rotation). This fluctuation creates vibration. A CV shaft cancels this out, providing smooth “electric-like” power to your generator.
Measure the distance from the tractor output shaft groove to the implement input shaft groove when they are closest together (usually when turning tight). Subtract 75mm from this measurement to determine the maximum closed length of your PTO shaft. This prevents the shaft from bottoming out and crushing your gearbox bearings.
