What is the difference between a bellow coupling and a jaw coupling for servos?

Stiffness. A Jag'ning muftasi (with an elastomer spider) has damping properties, which is good for vibration but introduces torsional flexibility (wind-up). A Bellows Coupling is torsionally rigid like a solid steel tube but flexible axially. For high-precision robotics requiring exact positioning, always choose bellows or disc packs. How do I select a drive shaft for a high-speed packaging robot?

You need to look at “Critical Speed” and “Inertia.” If the shaft is long, it might whip at high RPM. We recommend using large-diameter aluminum or carbon fiber tubes to push the critical speed up.
