A Quick Note from the Workshop:<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Back in 2019, I got a call from a contract treater in Flevoland. He was coating seed potatoes with a fungicide\/growth promoter mix using a PTO-driven batch mixer. He was tearing his hair out because the mixing paddles were surging, causing the coating to flake off. Everyone blamed the gearbox.<\/p>\n

I drove out there, and the first thing I noticed was the PTO shaft angle. He was running a standard U-joint at nearly 40 degrees while filling the hopper. The velocity fluctuation (the ‘cardan error’) was whipping the gearbox input shaft. We swapped it for a Series 6 Wide-Angle (CV) Shaft<\/strong> and phased it correctly. The surging stopped instantly. The coating coverage went from 85% to 99%. Sometimes, it\u2019s not the machine; it\u2019s the link between them.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
