Engineered for the High-Viscosity Demands of the Dutch Food & Pharma Industry. Delivering 50,000 Nm Torque with IP69K Hygienic Sealing Integrity.

Teknik Teklif Alın

The Netherlands stands as a global powerhouse in the confectionery and food processing sectors, particularly in the production of cocoa mass, liquorice (drop), and high-density doughs. The Double Sigma Blade Mixer (or Z-Blade Kneader) is the workhorse behind these products. In facilities spanning from the cocoa processors of the Zaanstreek to the bakery giants in the south, these machines are tasked with a brutal physical challenge: shearing and kneading materials with viscosities often exceeding 1,000,000 centipoise. This is not simple mixing; it is a high-pressure extrusion process happening between two counter-rotating blades and the “W” shaped trough wall.

The drive shaft connecting the main reduction gearbox to the blade journal is the most stressed component in the entire kinematic chain. It must transmit immense torque at relatively low speeds (typically 20-50 RPM), often with a speed differential of 1.5:1 between the two blades to facilitate material folding. The true engineering challenge, however, lies in the Shock Loading. When a block of frozen butter, a slab of hard gum base, or a dense cluster of cocoa solids is trapped between the Z-blade and the saddle of the trough, the torque requirement spikes instantaneously. A standard industrial cardan shaft will experience torsional twisting, eventually leading to fatigue failure at the yoke ear or flange weld.

Ever-Power’s “Series-Sigma-Hygienic” drive shafts are engineered to survive this brutal environment while respecting the delicate sanitary requirements of the food and pharma industries. We understand that a broken shaft means downtime, but a leaking seal means a product recall. Our design philosophy integrates high-yield alloy steel cores for brute strength with precision-engineered stainless steel cladding at the critical sealing interfaces, ensuring that your process remains both powerful and compliant with HACCP and GMP standards.

Solid stainless steel lacks the tensile yield strength required for heavy-duty kneading. We utilize a 42CrMo4V (AISI 4140) forged steel core to handle the torque. However, at the Critical Control Point (CCP) where the shaft passes through the bowl seal, we apply a laser-clad layer of 316L Stainless Steel. This provides the strength of alloy steel with the hygiene of stainless.

Modern sigma mixers in the Netherlands use air-purged seals to prevent product ingress. These seals require the drive shaft surface to be perfectly concentric. Ever-Power shafts are finish-ground to a tolerance of h6 with a surface roughness of Ra 0.4 µm, ensuring the air barrier is never breached by shaft run-out.

The 1.5:1 speed ratio between blades creates a complex harmonic vibration profile. Our shafts feature a Short-Coupled Double Cardan design with optimized spline geometry to absorb these vibrations. This prevents the “fretting” corrosion often seen on the gearbox output splines of older AMF or Baker Perkins mixers.

The table below outlines our specifications for heavy-duty kneader drives. We offer customization to fit mixers from major OEMs such as GEA, Winkworth, and Sobatech.
