Optimized for Dutch Crop Protection
The Netherlands has some of the strictest pesticide regulations in the world. Drift reduction classes (Driftreductieklassen) require sprayers to operate under precise pressures and boom heights. A vibrating PTO shaft can disrupt the boom stability system (balans), causing the spray height to fluctuate and risking drift.
1. The “Tracking Drawbar” Challenge
Many Dutch sprayers (Agrifac, Dubex) use steering axles or tracking drawbars to follow the tractor tracks perfectly in potato ridges. This geometry often creates sharp angles for the PTO shaft. Case Study: Tulip Farming in the Polder

The Heart of the Sprayer: Agricultural Gearboxes
While the PTO shaft transmits the power, the Caixa de Engrenagens Agrícolas is the component that drives the fan (for air-blast sprayers) or the pump. In orchard and vineyard sprayers (nevelspuiten), the gearbox is critical for generating the air volume needed to penetrate the canopy.

Specific Gearbox Applications for Sprayers
1. Fan Drive Gearboxes (Speed Multipliers)
Orchard sprayers use large axial fans to blow the mist into the trees. These fans need to spin fast (often 1800-2200 RPM), but the tractor PTO only spins at 540 RPM. This requires a 2-Speed Multiplier Gearbox with a neutral position.
O desafio: Inertia. A heavy fan acts like a flywheel. If you disengage the PTO abruptly, the fan keeps spinning and can destroy the gearbox gears.
A solução: Our Fan Drive Gearboxes feature an integrated Embreagem de roda livre (roda livre) inside the gearbox or on the input shaft. This allows the fan to spin down naturally, protecting the driveline from torque spikes.
2. Pump Drive Reduction
Some piston-diaphragm pumps require a specific RPM that differs from the PTO speed. We supply reduction gearboxes that mount directly to the pump, ensuring it runs at its optimal efficiency curve.
3. The “Wet Environment” Seal
Sprayers operate in a mist of water and chemicals. If moisture enters the gearbox, the oil emulsifies and bearings fail.

Yes, the CV head (the double yoke assembly) is replaceable. However, it requires special tools to center the ball mechanism correctly. We sell complete CV heads that you can weld or pin onto your existing profile tube, or we can supply the complete half-shaft.
CV joints have a central centering ball that needs frequent lubrication. We recommend greasing the center ball and the cross kits every 8 hours of operation. Neglecting the center ball is the #1 cause of CV failure.
