Harvesting medicinal roots (Rhizomes) is an art form that sits somewhere between heavy earthmoving and delicate flower picking. Unlike sugar beets or potatoes, where the crop is robust, medicinal roots like Valeriana officinalis<\/em> atau Echinacea purpurea<\/em>\u2014increasingly grown in the sandy soils of the Netherlands\u2014require a gentle touch but immense power.
