Configure Your Feeder Drive<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n The Screw-Type Continuous Ship Unloader (CSU), exemplified by the legendary Siwertell<\/strong> system, is the backbone of high-efficiency dry bulk handling. In the specialized terminals of the \ub124\ub35c\ub780\ub4dc<\/strong>\u2014from the agri-bulk silos of the Botlek to the chemical berths of Vlissingen\u2014these machines handle everything from sulfur and rock phosphate to biomass and fertilizers. The defining feature of this technology is the Inlet Feeder<\/strong>: a counter-rotating device at the very bottom of the vertical screw that actively digs into the cargo and forces it into the conveying tube.<\/p>\n The transmission system driving this inlet feeder operates in one of the most mechanically restricted and chemically hostile environments in the port industry. The drive shaft connects the hydraulic motor or electric variable frequency drive (VFD) to the feeder gearbox. Because the feeder must tilt and rotate to scavenge the hold bottom, the shaft is incredibly short (“Short-Coupled”) yet must accommodate significant angular misalignment. Furthermore, the material being handled often creates a “crushing” effect, sending intense high-frequency vibrations back through the driveline.<\/p>\n Standard industrial shafts fail rapidly here. The combination of chemical corrosion (from sulfur or acid-based fertilizers), abrasive dust ingress, and vibration-induced fretting causes standard cross bearings to seize. Ever-Power\u2019s “Series-IF-Chem” shafts are purpose-built for this application. We utilize Wide-Angle Geometry<\/strong> in a compact envelope, allowing for smooth power transmission even when the feeder is articulated to its maximum cleaning angle, ensuring the “cleanup phase” of ship unloading proceeds without mechanical interruption.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n Handling sulfur or urea in Rotterdam\u2019s humid climate creates sulfuric acid or ammonia residue on equipment. Ever-Power shafts feature a specialized Zinc-Nickel (ZnNi)<\/strong> plating that offers 5x the corrosion resistance of standard galvanization. Our seals are composed of Viton\u2122 (FKM), which remains pliable and leak-proof even when exposed to aggressive chemical dust.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Space at the bottom of the vertical arm is nonexistent. We engineer our shafts with an ultra-short collapsed length (often under 350mm) while maintaining a telescoping stroke of 40mm to allow for installation and thermal expansion. This requires specialized “Inverted Spline” designs that maximize spline engagement length within a minimized physical footprint.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The counter-rotating feeder blades often encounter compacted material lumps. Our cross assemblies use Full-Complement Needle Bearings<\/strong> (cageless) to increase the static load capacity, preventing “false brinelling” caused by the high-frequency vibration of the digging action.
