Why do drive shaft cross bearings fail prematurely on crawler cranes?
The most common cause is “Brinelling” from static vibration. When a crane idles for hours with the engine running, the vibration hammers the needle rollers into the race in one spot. Also, inadequate lubrication purging leaves water/grit inside. We recommend our heavy-duty, high-load bearing kits and strict greasing intervals.
Can you replace a Spicer or GWB shaft on my Liebherr crane?
Yes. We have extensive cross-reference data for major OEM shafts. We can match the flange interface (DIN/KV), torque rating, and compressed length exactly. Our replacements often feature upgraded sealing systems better suited for the wet Dutch climate.
What grease should I use for crane drive shafts in wet conditions?
Never use standard chassis grease. For Dutch construction sites, we highly recommend a 리튬 복합체 EP2 grease with 3-5% Molybdenum Disulfide (MoS2). The “Moly” provides a solid lubricant barrier that protects the metal even if water washes the oil away during heavy rain.
