In the Netherlands, crop protection is a precision sport. Whether you are spraying potatoes against Phytophthora in the peat colonies (Veenkoloniën) or protecting apple orchards in the Betuwe, timing and coverage are everything. The modern Dutch sprayer is a technological marvel, often equipped with GPS section control and Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) nozzles. But there is one mechanical link that dictates the stability of the entire system: the Albero cardanico.

I have spent 18 years in the field, and I’ve seen too many expensive spray jobs ruined by “pressure pulsing.” When a trailed sprayer turns at the headland (kopakker), a standard PTO shaft creates velocity fluctuations. This causes the diaphragm pump to surge. The result? Under-dosing in the turn (risk of disease) and over-dosing on the straight (chemical burn and waste). In a country with strict environmental regulations, this inconsistency is unacceptable.

At EVER-POWER, we engineer Wide-Angle (Constant Velocity) PTO Shafts specifically for the tight-turning geometry of Dutch fields and orchards. Our shafts ensure that your pump runs at a dead-steady 540 RPM, whether you are driving straight or making a 90-degree turn into the next row.

From the Engineer’s Notebook:

“I recall a troubleshooting call with a fruit grower near Geldermalsen. He was using a Munckhof orchard sprayer with a tracking drawbar. He complained that his diaphragm pump seals were blowing out every 200 hours. The dealer was baffled.

I watched him turn. He was using a standard shaft. At the end of every row, as the tractor turned 90 degrees to enter the next lane, the shaft angle hit 45 degrees. The ‘knocking’ vibration was hammering the pump shaft like a jackhammer. We installed a Series 4 Double Wide-Angle (CV-CV) Shaft. The knocking vanished. The pump pressure gauge stayed rock steady during the entire turn. He hasn’t replaced a seal in two years. The shaft paid for itself in one season.”

Optimized for Dutch Crop Protection

The Netherlands has some of the strictest pesticide regulations in the world. Drift reduction classes (Driftreductieklassen) require sprayers to operate under precise pressures and boom heights. A vibrating PTO shaft can disrupt the boom stability system (balans), causing the spray height to fluctuate and risking drift.

1. The “Tracking Drawbar” Challenge

Many Dutch sprayers (Agrifac, Dubex) use steering axles or tracking drawbars to follow the tractor tracks perfectly in potato ridges. This geometry often creates sharp angles for the PTO shaft. Our 80° CV Joints are designed to run smoothly even when the drawbar is fully articulated, ensuring you don’t damage the crops or the driveline.

2. Chemical Resistance

Sprayers work with aggressive chemicals. Overspray can land on the PTO guard. Standard PVC guards can become brittle and crack when exposed to certain herbicides and UV light. Our HDPE Safety Guards are chemically stabilized to resist embrittlement, ensuring they remain safe and compliant with Dutch Arbo standards for years.

Compatibility with Major Sprayer Brands

We supply replacement drivelines for the leading brands used in the Benelux region. Whether you run a high-tech Agrifac, a robust Dubex, a specialized Munckhof O KWH orchard sprayer, or a John Deere trailed unit, we have the fitment.
