In our experience, vibration issues often stem from this interface. If your gearbox input shaft has a splined receiver that doesn’t perfectly match the yoke locking mechanism of the PTO, you get fretting corrosion. We provide matching gearboxes because we treat the driveline as a single ecosystem. Whether you are running a slasher, a post-hole digger, or a fertilizer spreader, the torque has to flow smoothly. If the PTO shaft is the messenger, the gearbox is the muscle that does the heavy lifting.<\/p>\n

The heavy Polder clay creates massive resistance, and when the harvester hit a compacted patch, the torque spike caused the inner triangular tube to “corkscrew” slightly. Once that deformation happened, the shaft wouldn’t telescope in and out smoothly. This put axial load on the tractor’s PTO stub (a very expensive repair waiting to happen).<\/p>\n
